A recent statement from Russian officials warns people in Russia against engaging in any activities highlighted in the statement, as follows:
“The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are conducting a special operation to protect the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic. It must be taken into account that the provision of financial, material and technical, consulting or other assistance to a foreign state, an international or foreign organization or their representatives in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation contains elements of a crime under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (high treason). The offence is punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years. For each fact of providing financial and other assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation, a legal assessment will be given.
